About

The Vikings have always fascinated me since I was a child. My mother is of Danish decent with the maiden name Christensen. From what I understand that was not the family name in Denmark though. Christoffersen was their name until they went through Ellis Island and it was changed to Christensen. To be completely honest I know far more about my Scottish ancestors than my Danish ones.

Years later when I was deployed to Bosnia and stayed on a base-camp with the Norwegians and Danes I discovered I had Norwegian blood from my father’s side which I hadn’t known before which isn’t surprising since it has only been a few months since I found out I have German ancestry from his side as well.

Anyway, when I returned from Bosnia the first time I married my wife in Christiansfeld, Denmark and we did a lot of traveling throughout Denmark which included quite a few Viking museums and the settlement at Ribe. All of which I found fascinating and my new bride tolerated.

It wasn’t until I was working with a company that was incorporated in Denmark that I had much to do with anything related to Vikings, but that exposure lead me to owning Viking Text Ads where I started fielding questions about Viking history as support tickets. As strange as that may seem, it really did happen and more than once which lead me to creating this blog.

Hopefully you will find the information here useful and I will continue adding content as often as possible.
